About

We built the outreach tool
we wanted to use.

PingFinger started as a Friday-night side project to fix our own broken cold outreach. Two years later, it's the tool we open before any other on a launch day.

In 2024 we were trying to validate a payments idea by emailing founders. We spent $340/month on cold-email tools and got a 1.8% reply rate. The replies we did get were usually angry. Something was very, very wrong with the channel.

We tried the obvious workaround: DM people on Reddit and X instead. Reply rates jumped to 12%. The replies were warm. People sent screenshots of their problems unprompted. The catch: doing it by hand took four hours a day, and we had a product to build.

So we built a Chrome extension to handle the boring parts — picking the next lead, expanding the template, sending the DM, logging the reply — while keeping the human parts (what to say, who to target, when to follow up) ours.

After three months of using it on our own outreach, friends started asking for the install link. After six months, we'd shipped 47 versions and the daily active count was bigger than the side-project we'd been building it for. So we made PingFinger the main thing.

We're still tiny. The whole team eats lunch at the same table.

What we believe builds a good outreach tool

Three principles
we won't bend on.

01

Personal, not spam

Every send is mechanically unique. Spintax and {name} substitution mean no two messages ever read the same — the recipient gets a real-feeling DM, not template #4,217.

02

Pacing, not volume

Sending 5,000 DMs to get 5 replies is a losing game for everyone. PingFinger caps daily volume, paces every send, and rewards quality over noise.

03

Local, not cloud

Your leads, your templates, your sends — they live in your browser by default. Cloud sync is opt-in. The defaults respect your data without asking.

Plain about what we are

PingFinger is — and isn't —
a few specific things.

PingFinger is…

  • A Chrome extension that runs on the Reddit and X you already use.
  • Honest about its limits — 14% reply rate is great, not 50%.
  • Built by people who use it daily to talk to their own users.
  • Priced so the free plan is genuinely useful, not just a teaser.

PingFinger isn't…

  • A spam cannon. The caps and pacing exist for a reason.
  • A scraper-only tool. We help you contact people — not surveil them.
  • A B2B-sales-team product. We're built for solo founders and small teams.
  • Trying to replace your CRM. Use PingFinger to start the conversation; close it wherever you close.

A few things we believe

The opinions that
show up in the product.

  • 01Outbound is for people, not lists.
  • 02Pricing should be one number on a page, not five quotes from sales.
  • 03Free tiers stay free forever — no countdown timer, no nag screen.
  • 04Sales tools should never make you feel scammy using them.
  • 05The smallest team should be able to build a billion-dollar audience.
  • 06If we wouldn't send the DM ourselves, it shouldn't be in the product.

Who builds this

Made by a tiny team
who actually uses it.

We're a small team based across two timezones. We send DMs through PingFinger every working day to find users, ship feedback, and book demos. The product gets better because we use it.
